Blood Promise - Richelle Mead So it's 2:36am and I'm finally done. This one was kind of slow-going with some action-packed awesomeness thrown in between. I really enjoyed it and was immersed enough to continue reading until the end. I expected it to be full of angst and emotional struggle and whatnot and that I'd get annoyed as fuck over it, but it went surprisingly well. Most of the time Rose handled it pretty well. When she wasn't dealing with it, she was a bitch, but that's hardly surprising. I think these books would lose its appeal if there weren't any situations where I want to bang my head against the wall over Rose's stupidity. Or Lissa's. She had her moments in this one. I am really glad they finally worked their shit out though. Only took them 4 books to become proper best friends. Nice. I really liked meeting Dimitri's family and Sydney. I kind of can't wait for Bloodlines. I also enjoyed the memories of Rose and Dimitri together. It pretty much broke my heart. As did her pitiful state during blood-whoring. What took from the experience was the predictability. I knew Abe was her father from the moment she described him.. I was really hoping that Rose would actually kill Dimitri but alas, I was hoping for too much. I guess it wouldn't be a YA novel if everything didn't end happily, against all fucking odds of course. And the whole healing Strigoi with spirit was also pretty predictable. I knew that Dimitri needs to be healed and it seemed pretty obvious it's gonna happen like that and blah blah.YA novels need more tragedy! Another thing going on my nerves is this whole spying thing Rose does. It would've been so much easier is Ms. Mead just made Lissa's POV if she wanted to show us what was happening with her instead of making Rose kinda sleazy for doing what she does. I don't think I will ever understand that choice. Or well, I suppose it serves to prove Lissa is useless and can't really do anything without Rose's help. Also Adrian. He has my undying love!So yea, all in all, it's funny how despite me pretty much hating the MCs and there being a lot of things that go on my last nerve I actually really like these books. I don't think I will ever be able to actually explain why. XD
